This letter was written the day after Saddam Hussein's sons, Uday and Qusay, were killed when a American missile destroyed the building that they were held up in. On the Steve and DC talk radio show, someone called to express his disgust at the hosts' exhaltation of the event, which also claimed the life of a young teenager. The hosts treated him so harshly, that I was compeled to write this letter. (The show also received several other angry letters about this incident that were not so polite as this one.)

Dear Steve and DC,

Listening to your show on the way to work this morning, I was agitated by the flaming received by one of your callers. This caller addressed concern with the fact that we seem to be celebrating the fact that one of our missiles destroyed a building with four people inside.

He was soon called an "idiot" and a "hypocrite," as he tried to argue his point against the gratings of everyone on the show. Finally, he was thanked for his "ridiculous" call and taken off. Soon, there was further taunting from other callers, one of whom said that we should send him to Iraq. (I wonder why that guy didn't sign up. We could certainly use his gung-ho attitude in the ranks.)

Now, I'm not saying that the killing wasn't in some way justified. After all, our troops were in battle, and they had to win at all cost. And you and your collegues certainly have the right to speak as you wish. After all, it is your show and this is America.

However, please know that such actions discourage variety in expressed opinion. Several listeners who disagree with the views expressed may not only be discouraged to call in, but also to listen to your show altogether.

Thank you for your time,

Gus
