Dear Fox News,

I heard House Majority Leader Rep. Tom DeLay's plan for improving our nation's power grid, and I totally agree. They should be able to put up lines wherever they want, no matter who opposes them. After all, that's how America works, isn't it? Smash all opposition.

I say we erect a whole lot of power lines over the White House and Capital Hill. After all, would that not be the best place to have them? If the power blacked out in such an important area, would we not want to have it restored as quickly as possible?

Or would these new power lines be installed in our poorest neighborhoods, as is usually the case?

I have known many people who have lost their jobs in the past few years (my father included.) I found simply appalling Mr. DeLay's statement that the way to fix the energy crisis is to kick people out of their homes, especially in light of the high unemployment rate we are now facing.

I also find it very disturbing that the Republicans seem to find it so easy to take a firm stance against issues that do not really effect them, such as the case with same-sex marriage. Do they know anyone who is homosexual? Mr. DeLay said on the show that he even favored a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage. Does he have any homosexual friends or family? Vice President Cheney has a daughter who happens to be homosexual. Wonder why we do not hear him speak too much about it.

Sincerely,

Gus Stevenson

P.S. Do I sound like a banana environmental extremist (a term used by Mr. DeLay on the show)? What exactly is that? I happen to know a few people who call themselves "environmentalist," but none of them are peelable yellow fruit.
